They began well, the speech of the Bundestag President Norbert Lammert in parliament - on the occasion of the 66th Anniversary of the liberation of the Auschwitz concentration camp, the extermination camp Auschwitz-Birkenau by the Red Army. Fast was attempting in the first few minutes, a comparison with the famous speech Richard von Weizsäcker on the 40th to draw anniversary of liberation from fascism and war. And finally even the genocide of the Roma and Sinti was not only on Outskirts discussed.
But then came the blow in the face: CDU-Parteisolat Lammert explicitly praised Hungary, which wanted to take during its presidency of the problem of the Roma and Sinti.
The President of the German Parliament praising a populist government that beautiful cut through the abolition of press freedom in any democratic control - for lip-service that will lull the only democratic Europe. And because of its EU Presidency Europe is a laughing stock and has lost any moral force.
Never again fascism, Mr. Lammert. Germany's task would be for an immediate end use of the Hungarian presidency and for a suspension of EU membership of Hungary, the cessation of all subsidy payments and a complete economic boycott until the restoration of political conditions that correspond to the European Human Rights Convention.
Not your trite sayings we wanted to hear Mr. Lammert - but to see action, showing that Germany has learned and conclusions drawn from his murderous past. Everything else is an insult to the victims.
Or do you think we owe them, not the 60 million dead ...
